FAQs

Everything you want to know about this year’s Touch7s competition

When does the season start and finish?

The Open division will commence 21st September for two rounds of unrefereed pre-season fixtures.

Round 1 for both Juniors & Opens will commence Thursday 5th October 2023.

The Summer Touch 7s finals will be held on Thursday 14th December. Juniors will play a normal fixture and Opens play in a knock-out finals series.

What age groups compete in Summer Touch 7s?

We have three Junior Divisions:

  • Pool A - 5 - 7 year olds

  • Pool B - 8 - 10 year olds

  • Pool C - 11 - 14 year olds

  • The Open division is for players 14 +

How do I register?

Once registrations open you will register yourself via the Rugby Xplorer app - this is when you will pay your registration fee.

You need to know your team name before you’d be able to register. Your team manager will create your team in RugbyXplorer.

How much does it cost?

  • Juniors $105 per player

  • Opens $145 per player

This includes all insurances, sporting association fees and registration fees.

Where and when do we play?

Touch 7s is a tournament played in the off-season after the winter rugby season has finished starting in September for Seniors and October (term 4) for Juniors.

This is an inclusive tournament and you don’t need to be a member of Wanneroo Rugby to register.

All games are played at Wanneroo Rugby Club, Spectator Drive, Madeley.

Games are Thursday nights and start at 5:30 for juniors and 6:30 for seniors.

Can I play in a team with my friends?

Yes! As part of your registration process you will need to register to a team. Find out the details of your team’s registration details from your team manager/captain.

Can I still play if I don’t have a team?

Yes, we welcome individual registrations. However, team allocation will only happen when a collection of individual registrations surpasses the minimum team number of seven (7) players. Please fill in the Expression of Interest so we can find you a team.

Do we need a special uniform to play?

No, every team can organise their own uniform but the team has to be distinguishable, ideally with a number for Seniors and look the same to get on the field.

To avoid conflicts with jersey colours and styles, we require the team manager to contact us to check that your colour combination is available.

This season we have partnered with Paladin Sports who are offering an exclusive deal to supply playing kit for registered teams to the competition.

Will I get injured?

You will be your own worst enemy. This is a non-contact version of the game so pulling an underutilised hamstring might be the worst of your problems.

Do we need to go to additional training?

No, Touch 7s is all about having fun and being social. Turn up for your game on a Thursday and enjoy the festivities at the club afterwards - family friendly environment with meal options at the canteen and a licensed bar.

If your team would like to secure field space for training, please get in contact with us.
